Hello treasure hunters. Welcome to my world of Junk Journals. These one-of-a-kind creations go by many names. Perhaps you know them as glue books, treasure books, art journals, smash books or altered books. Whatever you call them they are a feast for the eyes, hands, and soul. I think of them as adult pop-up books. As you visually stroll through each piece you will have a multi-sensory experience. Textures abound from classic vintage fabrics, luxurious lace and trims, glass beading and stunning papers combined with secret journaling spots, multiple pockets full of vintage and new ephemera, mini booklets, charms and jewels providing a plethora of inspiration. All that is missing is you to make each book your very own story book.
Who am I?
The daughter of a textile man who started Dogwood Fabrics in 1942, I have truly been wrapped in fabric my whole life. I have accumulated a huge collection of old and new fabrics and realized that instead of just hoarding them they should become something.
The Bohemian in me (child of the ’60s) stumbled upon Junk Journals and found the perfect no-fault outlet for my treasures and creativity.
There is no wrong way to make a journal…just the right way for the right person.
When you see the journal made for you you just know it…it speaks to you and you want to touch it, peruse it and fill it with your own words and memories.
